The Exadata Database Machine Version 2, made by Sun and Oracle, is the world’s fastest machine for both data warehousing and online transaction processing (OLTP).
Exadata Version 2 is available 4 models:
- full rack (8 database servers and 14 storage servers)
- half-rack (4 database servers and 7 storage servers)
- quarter-rack (2 database servers and 3 storage servers)
- a basic system (1 database server and 1 storage server)

No plan for sparc and we only use Intel.

Let's wait for at least 1 more year. Then we will see, if Oracle really (still) likes SPARC. I'm prety sure it was quite easy to migrate from HP-x86 to SUN-x86. But it will be harder to find a quite good balance (from speed and price!) for SPARC DB-nodes. And Which kind of SPARC? ULTRA or CMT?
Just now, there are some new features of interrest:
* Hybrid columnar compression for 10-50 times data compression
* Storage Indexes to further reduce disk I/Os
But unfortunately there is limited information about the storage-nodes. really sad.

I like new feature on exadata v2, but it stills high price.
On telco, I think It's a good way.
