As some people know, Oracle Data Guard provides the management, monitoring, and automation software to create and maintain one or more standby databases to protect Oracle data from failures, disasters, human error, and data corruptions while providing high availability for mission critical applications. Data Guard is included with Oracle Database Enterprise Edition.

Anyway, if you have to work with Oracle Database Production, you might have to work/use Oracle Data Guard feature. If you are beginning with it. I mention book title Oracle Data Guard 11gR2 Administration Beginner's Guide, it was written by Emre Baransel and Nassyam Basha.
