I agree people need to learn about "systemctl", but at least for now RHEL7/OL7 honour the "service" and "chkconfig" commands. They also tell you what you should have done. :)
I use Fedora for my desktop at home, so none of the changes have come as a surprise to me. I assumed Red Hat would use a MATE desktop. This version of GNOME is pretty terrible. :(
Cheers

Hello Tim,
As "systemctl" command, You're right. A "service" command will tell users which command they should use and not surprised with users who use Fedora.
I believe it will benefit for users who have use Fedora.
Example: firewalld service. ummm
I must learn about firewall-cmd and etc.

Yes. I think firewalld will confuse some people. It isn't too bad, but it is a little different to iptables. The concept of what is currently running (public) and what is stored for future use (permanent) confused me initially. Basically, I end up making all changes twice, or making the permanent change ans reloading.
firewall-cmd --zone=public --add-port=8080/tcp
firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=8080/tcp
I see a lot of people removing firewalld and installing iptables.
yum -y remove firewalld
yum install iptables
I think that is a mistake... Most of the time it is better to get up to speed with the new version... :)
Cheers
Tim...
Thank You for example and idea.
Yes, we should learn and start with the new version.
Thank You,
Surachart
