Excessive waited 'SQL*Net message from client' - when query V$LOCK

Someone informed me. She queried V$LOCK and took a long time. This is Oracle Database 11gR2 RAC. This used V$LOCK to check Blocking Locks with nagios and It got timeout.

SQL> select INST_ID, SID, TYPE, ID1, ID2, LMODE, REQUEST, CTIME, BLOCK from gv$lock where (ID1,ID2,TYPE) in (select ID1,ID2,TYPE from gv$lock where request>0) ORDER BY id1, request;

no rows selected

Elapsed: 00:00:57.14

So, I changed to use V$SESSION

SQL> select INST_ID, SID,BLOCKING_INSTANCE, BLOCKING_SESSION from gv$session where BLOCKING_SESSION is not null;

no rows selected

Elapsed: 00:00:00.02

I didn't write about what SQL statement be better. I was just curious about V$LOCK. what wrong?

But I'm not sure, why CASE 1 took excessive 'SQL*Net message from client' waited. But I just reduced it by using PARALLEL hint.

Idea to check Blocking Locks: You can query DBA_BLOCKERS & use DBA_LOCK also.
